Medieval Glasgow Cathedral survived the Reformation intact and remains in active use today. While it's known to have one of the finest collection of stained-glass windows in post-war Britain, it was the stone steps, worn down by centuries of supplicants, that captured my heart's eye.

Beautiful haiku, and a treasured memory I am sure!
ReplyDeleteSo many people have made their way to these beloved holy spaces over the year. I have been to Glasgow too, but it was a while ago. I have a feeling I might have been to this same cathedral.
ReplyDeleteThis is one that makes you think. How many have come before us? How many have looked for we are looking for now? How many other footsteps are we standing in every day, no matter where we are, of those no longer with us. How many more will follow and ponder the same questions? Did they find what they were looking for? Will we?

A really beautiful haiku, and accompanying photo. I, too, love the worn polished look of the old stone and the thought of all the feet that wore them smooth...........your haikus are amazing, I am way impressed. Haikus being so structured and succinct, neither of which I excel at:) I so anticipate your posts, never know what will come next! Keep writing! You are amazing.
